FAQs
Do I need a certification?
It depends on the activity you choose. Please check the 'Required Level' in the tour details, or feel free to contact us with any questions.
What to bring?
Come prepared with your swimsuit, a towel, and your personal belongings (a cap or hat, sunglasses, and dry clothes to change into afterward).
Important note: To preserve the water and the fragile ecosystem, please ensure your sunscreen is 100% reef-safe and biodegradable.
Where do we meet?
Generally, we will pick you up at a scheduled time that we will provide. Alternatively, you can meet us at our shop, CenoteXperience (Calle 60 North (between 36th and 38th Streets), House 4, Colonia Ejidal, Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico).
Do I need to bring my own gear?
Whichever is more convenient for you. If you don't want to carry yours, we can rent you a full gear set.
What is the water temperature like in the cenotes?
For the most part, cenotes maintain a delightful temperature between 24 and 26 °C (75 to 79 °F) all year round. Even so, we recommend wearing a 3 or 5 mm wetsuit to keep you warm.
Is cenote diving very different from ocean diving?
Absolutely! You are going to live an incredible experience. Unlike the ocean, cenotes offer super calm waters, breathtaking visibility, and magical light beams piercing through the water. However, since it is a cavern environment, the key to fully enjoying it is having good buoyancy control.
Can I bring my camera into the cenotes?
It depends on the cenote. In some of them, rules are strict and divers are not allowed to bring their own cameras. The good news is that there are professional photographers on-site, so you can buy your photos directly from them.
How does the cancellation policy work?
• With more than 48 hours' notice: You can cancel or change your date free of charge (subject to availability).
• With less than 24 hours' notice or No-Show: A 100% charge of the deposit paid will apply.
• Due to bad weather or shop reasons: If CenoteXperience cancels due to bad weather, port closure, or operational reasons, and we are unable to reschedule, you will receive a 100% refund.
• For health reasons: No last-minute penalty will be charged, provided you present a valid medical certificate within 24 hours prior to the scheduled activity.
"At CenoteXperience, we will always do our best to reschedule any activity that has been postponed."
