Cenote Carwash, also known as Aktun Ha, is located about 8 km west of Tulum, on the road leading to the Coba archaeological site.

This cenote features a large open-water area where fish, turtles, and aquatic plants (water lilies) can be observed in the pond, along with an occasional small crocodile. Submerged trees also add to its surreal appearance.

Inside the cavern, one can find rock formations such as stalagmites, stalactites, and columns, creating an incredible contrast with the sunlight streaming into the cenote. During the summer season, a cloud of tannic acid forms on the surface due to decomposing vegetation, creating amazing light effects with hues ranging from yellow, red, and orange to brown and green.
