MANATÍ

The dance of light among the mangroves.

General Description:

Cenote Manatí, also known as Casa Cenote, is located north of Tulum and is part of the Sac Actun cave system. This cenote features a large open area connected to the sea; surrounded by mangroves, it offers ideal conditions for a wide variety of underwater wildlife—both freshwater and saltwater species—such as small groupers, snappers, barracudas, blue crabs, and tarpon. Part of the dive takes place beneath the mangroves, where divers can observe the halocline (freshwater mixing with saltwater) and the dance of sunlight filtering through the mangrove roots.

Occasionally, Morelet's crocodiles (*Crocodylus moreletii*) can be spotted swimming in the cenote.
